Economic inequality is a political issue; individualists and collectivists differ (6.7.2.1) on whether it is a problem and, if so, what to do about it. There are several political justifications for reducing it (6.7.2.2), in addition to the economic benefits of 'middle-out economics' (3.5.6.4) described earlier. Policy objectives on intervention range from local to global (6.7.2.3), and inequality can be reduced in several ways (6.7.2.4).
